Who we are

Mission to the Nations (“MTN”, “we”, “us”) is a US 501(c)(3) public charity registered in the State of California (EIN 38-4124280), with a mailing address at 7550 St Patrick Way, Apt 102, Dublin, CA 94568-4871, United States. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through missiontothenations.com and any related donation, newsletter, or contact forms.

What we collect

We collect information only when you actively provide it:

  • Contact and enquiry forms — name, email address, and the content of your message.
  • Newsletter sign-up — email address only.
  • Donation processing — payment details are handled directly by our payment processor (PayPal). MTN does not store card numbers or bank details.
  • Sponsorship enquiries — name, email, and any details you choose to share.
  • Volunteer applications — name, email, country of residence, professional background, skills, availability, and any supporting information you submit. Where a volunteer role involves working with children or vulnerable adults, we may request additional screening information (references, relevant certifications) as part of our safeguarding process.

We do not use tracking pixels, third-party advertising networks, or behavioural profiling tools. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

How we use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and messages you send us.
  • To send impact updates and newsletters you subscribed to (you may unsubscribe at any time).
  • To process donations and issue tax receipts.
  • To fulfil grant reporting obligations to institutional funders where required.
  • To assess, place, and communicate with volunteer applicants — including coordinating with our field teams in Asia where a placement requires it.

We will never use your information for purposes beyond those you consented to when you provided it.

International data transfers

Mission to the Nations is based in the United States and operates field programmes across South and Southeast Asia. Personal data you submit through this site may be transferred to our US office and, where directly relevant to your enquiry (such as a volunteer placement, a sponsorship match, or programme correspondence), to our field teams in Asia.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you consent to this international transfer when you submit your information through this site. We will only transfer the minimum data necessary for the purpose, and we will not transfer your data to any third party outside MTN's organisational structure without your explicit consent.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics tools that identify individual visitors. Our hosting provider (Netlify) maintains server-level access logs for security and performance purposes; these contain IP addresses and user-agent strings but no personally identifiable data tied to your activity on this site. If we ever add any analytics tool in the future, this policy will be updated before deployment.

Data retention

We retain contact and donation records for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described above and to meet our legal obligations as a US 501(c)(3) (typically seven years for financial records). Newsletter subscriber data is held until you unsubscribe. Volunteer application data is retained for two years after the conclusion of a placement or the date of a declined application, after which it is deleted unless you request otherwise. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent for newsletter communications at any time.
  • Request that your name be withheld from any public donor recognition (anonymous giving).
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@missiontothenations.com.

Third-party services

Our website is hosted on Netlify. Forms submitted through this site are processed by Netlify Forms. Donations are processed by PayPal. Each of these services operates under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. MTN is not responsible for the data practices of third-party processors beyond what is required by our agreements with them.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Images of children in our programmes are used with the knowledge and consent of guardians or the institutions in our care programmes, in accordance with child safeguarding standards.

Beneficiary data and case studies

Where MTN publishes the names, photographs, or personal stories of beneficiaries — including in case studies, programme reports, and donor communications — we do so with appropriate consent from the individual or, in the case of children, from a parent, guardian, or institutional caregiver. Where consent is uncertain, partial, or where a beneficiary's safety could be affected by identification, we anonymise names, alter identifying details, or use representative composites. Beneficiaries may request at any time that their information be removed from public materials, and we will honour such requests in subsequent publications.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. Continued use of the site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
